“Empowered Sisters: Navigating Faith and Fellowship in Women’s Bible Study”

Mar 11, 2024 | Bible Studies

On Monday the 11th, we encountered two women in 2 Kings 11 and 2 Chronicles 22 and 23:11-24. The first, Athaliah, was the daughter of Ahab and Jezebel and ruled over the southern kingdom of Judah. She became queen by killing her grandsons and promoted baal during her reign. Jehosheba, on the other hand, hid one of Athaliah’s grandsons, Joash, until he was seven. Her husband, the High Priest, arranged a coup, crowning Joash as King. When Athaliah discovered the plot, she rushed to the temple, where she was seized and executed. Despite the devil’s attempts to prevent the birth of the Messiah, God prevailed.

We also examined Huldah, found in 2 Kings 22:14-20 and 2 Chronicles 34:23-33. Huldah, a prophetess, was trusted by the King and fearlessly proclaimed the truth. She informed King Josiah that if he followed God, he would go to his grave in peace without witnessing the calamity brought upon the place and its inhabitants. As a result, King Josiah restored true worship throughout his life.
